In just a couple of weeks, Eastertide will be upon us, and we WILL celebrate!
Have you ever considered joy as a spiritual discipline? Perhaps we as the Church should.
Take a moment to listen to this commentary by Rend Collective Experiment on their new concept album, "The Art of Celebration." This commentary tells us a little bit about why they titled the album the way they did:
Sometimes, people in the Church are so serious. It may seem on the surface that we are full of joy, but do we really embrace joy as a part of who we are?
Maybe one of our new Lent practices should be the spiritual practice of joy. Perhaps we should think about finding joy in our every day lives, and encouraging the young people to whom we minister to find this joy, too. Just the reminder that we are claimed, called, and sent children of God should give us a reason to celebrate! This joy can come to us in worship, through the proclamation of the Gospel in Word and song, but it can also come through our interactions with other people and through mission in our own communities.
Together, let us as the Church rediscover the art of celebration.
