Have the group sit in a circle and designate one person as "it." "It" has to approach a person in the circle and try to make them laugh by saying: "Honey if you love me will you please, please smile?" "It" then has to do everything they can to make the person smile. The person must respond, without smiling, "Honey, I love you, but I just can't smile." If the person can keep from smiling or laughing, "it" has to move on to a different person. If the person does laugh or smile, they become "it." Encourage participants to get creative with this game... they really, really want to make their opponents smile!
This game has the same idea as "Honey if you Love Me." Have the group sit or stand in a circle. Instead of having one person in the middle of the circle, invite two. One person will be designated as the donkey, and one will be designated as the donkey seller. The donkey seller walks up to someone and asks, "Do you want to buy my donkey?" and the participant responds, "What does your donkey do?" Then, the donkey seller says, "My donkey can ________" and the donkey has to do the action. If the participant laughs, they become the donkey and the donkey becomes the donkey seller. This came can also get really silly. Be sure to monitor actions and make sure they are appropriate for your group! Some of the best actions we've seen include: breakdancing, mowing the lawn, chasing its tail, and singing opera. The key to this game is being silly and over-the-top!
Check back on the blog next week for more youth group games!
