That the United States is one of the only countries in the world to have youth serving sentences of life without parole?
That from 1997-2000, the state of Pennsylvania saw a 3% increase in the number of young people incarcerated--one of only 5 states to see this increase?
This interfaith initiative encourages communities to engage in dialogue about the issues that come from our current juvenile justice system. In November 2014, the Convention of the Diocese of Pennsylvania passed a resolution to observe the JJMFH in our Diocese, and to encourage its parishes and organizations to engage in discussion on youth in our current justice system.
