This year, the wider church is encouraged to participate via social media, using the hashtag #PrayersOf. Participants can use Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to submit Prayers of the People on a different theme each day, including Thanksgiving, Praise, Intercession, and Celebration. These prayers can be words or images, tagged with #PrayersOf and the day’s theme (i.e. #PrayersOf #Thanksgiving). Each day, some prayers will be chosen to be read aloud as a part of General Convention's worship services.
To receive daily updates on this initative, register on the Prayers of the People website before June 21st. By email, you will receive a morning meditation and evening reflection on the day's theme, sung by Brothers of the Society of Saint John the Evangelist, and a link to the prayers of the people read at the General Convention Eucharist.
This can be a wonderful way to encourage your youth to express their prayers in a creative yet simple way, and play a small role at General Convention.
