For those of you not familiar with Pinterest, it's a social site that allows you to share links and ideas. People post all different kinds of things on here: crafts, DIY, recipes, and much more. If you see something you like, you can "pin" it and save it to a board of your own. You can also "follow" other peoples' boards and see what they are pinning. If you look carefully, you can find some great ideas!
Check out a couple of the ways we've used Pinterest in our own programming:
Believe it or not, most of our City Camp crafts come from Pinterest. This year we have about 15 different crafts. Pinterest is a great place to find craft ideas because it connects you to different craft blogs, and the ideas are endless. I have a whole "Kids' Crafts" board on my page, along with a board just for City Camp-specific ideas. One of the coolest crafts I've found for this year are these harmonicas made out of tongue depressors.
You would be amazed at how many of our Nightwatch prayer stations come from Pinterest ideas. I have a whole board with just prayer station ideas. There are lots of great hands-on activities that people post, and many of these are specifically designed for youth groups and teens. Pictured here is one of our prayer stations from last year's Advent Nightwatch series. This prayer station focused on peace and reconciliation as the Body of Christ.
You can see what kinds of things I pin by checking out my Pinterest boards here. I'd love to share my findings with you, and follow you to see what great things you discover!
