Separate your group into two teams. Have each team line up in two parallel lines holding hands. At the front of the line should be the leader who will tell the people at the front when to go. At the end of the lines is a chair with an apple on it, or some other object that is easy to grab (like a ball). Now the race is on. When the leader gives the sign, the teams send a 'power surge' by squeezing the hand of the next person in line. When the last person feels their hand squeezed, they grab the apple (or other object). The team that grabs the object first gets a point. Have the person at the front of the line move to the back, replace the object, and play again, keeping track of points each round. Word of warning about this game: Sometimes it gets crazy when players dive for the object, especially older youth. Make sure you watch for any rough players!
Materials: Apple, ball, or other object that is easy to grab
Choose one person to leave for a moment while the rest of the circle designates a person as the "starter." That person starts an action like snapping their fingers or rubbing their hands together. Everyone imitates that action. Every thirty seconds or so the leader should change the action. The person who left returns. Their goal is to pick out the leader of the actions. The person has three guesses to figure out who the leader is.
This one is a City Camp favorite! Have the group sit in a circle so that everyone can see each other. Pick one person to be the "Detective" and ask them to step out of the room for a moment. Designate one person as the "Frogger" by having everyone close their eyes (after the Detective leaves), then walk around the circle and tap someone on the head. Invite the Detective back, and have them stand in the middle of the circle. The Detective's goal is to figure out who the Frogger is before everyone is eliminated. The goal of the Frogger is to eliminate everyone else from the game by sticking their tongue out without the Detective seeing. When the other players get eliminated, they fall back in a mock "death." The Detective has three guesses to try and figure out who the Frogger is.
