Exodus 2:1-10; Deuteronomy 5:1-22
One of the coolest depictions of the Ten Commandments I have ever seen is in a painting that currently lives in the Lutherhaus in Wittenberg, Germany. This painting, created by Lucas Cranach the Elder in 1516, is titled Zehn Gebote and is a visual representation of the “ten big rules” God gives the Israelite people through Moses. Take a look at this photo of the painting and see if you can figure out which commandment is depicted in each panel:
This Advent, let us remember the covenant we have made with our God. Let us remember how to love God and how to love one another.

O God, you have given me the promise of love and grace this Advent season. Open my heart to live out the covenant I have made with you and with others. Help me live out this covenant through my relationship with you and with my neighbors. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, my Savior and Lord. Amen.
